Understanding Approaches to Effective Board Decision Making

Making effective decisions is the essence of good board governance. Too often the circumstances of the day frustrate boards in their efforts to practice good decision-making. A board can improve the quality and reliability of its leadership by getting clear on the separate roles of played by the Board as a whole, its committees, and individual Board members; and, by making decision-making processes an explicit part of Board governance. This session will give you a framework to identify where your board might improve its decision-making capabilities and outline some common tools to support your work. There will be an opportunity to discuss the ideas presented and how they might be applied to your own situation.
