Capacity building and leadership in community and organizational development are the current focus of Jennifer’s career. In her position as a Community Development Officer with Alberta Culture and Tourism over the past 8 years, she has led the design and delivery of facilitation, training, and public consultation services for well over 100 non-profit and public sector organizations in order to contribute to strong, effective organizations that achieve their desired outcomes and meet the needs of the community.
Starting out as a school teacher, Jennifer’s public sector career evolved and expanded over 35 years into adult education/training, facilitation, and management. The scope of her work includes family studies; health promotion; communications and public relations; collaboration, coalition building and community mobilization; behaviour change; and community and organizational development. Through 17 years of management experience in the public health and post-secondary education systems, she gained extensive project management and leadership experience, from local to international in scope.
Jennifer also gained leadership experience on non-profit boards, giving 30 volunteer years as a director and officer on a variety of local and provincial boards such as The Alberta Public Health Association, the Alberta Press Council, and Lethbridge College. Raising her family in Lethbridge, she was also an active volunteer for groups such as the Rotary Club of Lethbridge and The University of Lethbridge Senate.
