Julie Friesen brings a wealth of diverse experience and longstanding commitment to her community over many years and across many sectors, having demonstrated leadership in the not-for-profit, voluntary, and public sectors for her entire career. As a Community Development Officer with Alberta Culture, Community Development Unit in the Southern Region, she assists communities in building enhanced capacity in leadership and skill development, strategic planning, board governance, regional collaboration and partnership building, facilitation, organizational development, and public engagement/consultation to name a few.
Prior to assuming responsibilities with the Province of Alberta, Julie designed and administered Health Canada Prenatal Nutrition and Early Childhood Intervention programs and was instrumental in the development of regional collaborations in Southeastern Alberta. A longstanding community volunteer, Julie cites her most recent involvements as an elected Council member for the City of Medicine Hat, Past President of United Way of Southeastern Alberta, and active member of many community organizations, including the Police Commission, Housing Foundation and Watershed Alliance.
