Michelle is the Community Liaison Officer, Calgary and Area, for the Community Grants Unit of Alberta Culture and Tourism. She is fairly new to this position and has over 15 years of experience in the field of Community Development from both a provincial and municipal perspective.
Michelle’s career began as a practicum student with the 1998 Alberta Winter Games in Red Deer, after which she spent 7 years working with the Alberta Games program assisting communities responsible for hosting Summer, Winter and 55+ provincial sporting events. The first 3 of those years she worked directly for the volunteer boards who were responsible for hosting games, and then she spent the remaining 4 years in the capacity of Games and Marketing Consultant with the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation. In addition to her provincial experience, Michelle has also worked in the field of Continuing Education at a local level in Central Alberta, as well as providing supports to agencies in her role as Community Facilitator with the Town of Olds. She has had the privilege of working with people and organizations across the province and the motivation behind that work has always been to help mobilize and empower groups so that they may achieve their goals.
